Yarra Plenty Waves:

At the 2026 Victorian Metropolitan Short Course Championships, Yarra Plenty Waves achieved:

4th place overall, 2 Metropolitan records, 11 gold, 8 silver and 9 bronze medals,

73 Top 10 finishes, 134 personal bests from 176 individual swims — a 76% PB rate

8 relay performances.

Our athletes also recently competed at the 2026 School Sport Australia Swimming Championships, achieving: 11 finals, 11 Top 10 finishes, 1 bronze medal.

A special congratulations to our multi-class swimmer, Cooper Harrington, who won seven medals from the eight events he contested—an outstanding achievement at national level.

These results would not have been possible without the ongoing support of WaterMarc. Access to a high-quality local training facility allows our swimmers to train consistently, develop their confidence and pursue their goals at metropolitan, state and national level.

WaterMarc’s support is helping local children turn their swimming dreams into genuine opportunities, and we are very grateful for the important role the centre continues to play in their development.

Thank you also to our athletes, coaches, parents and team managers for their commitment and teamwork throughout a demanding period of competition.

DVE Water Polo Winter Season Update

We continue to see fantastic involvement and commitment from our DVE Water Polo players throughout the winter season, with our members representing the club at competitions across Australia and New Zealand.

Our Under 13 players had an outstanding opportunity to represent Victoria at the Development Carnival in Hobart in July, with an impressive 11 DVE players selected to take part.

In July, we also saw four DVE players from our Under 15 Boys and Girls age groups represent Victoria at the East Coast Challenge. It was a fantastic experience for all involved, with one of our DVE players making it through to the Under 15 Boys Gold Medal match and finishing with a well-deserved silver medal.

And the representative opportunities continue! We are incredibly proud that our very own Emilio Alleri has been selected to represent Victoria at the National State Championships, being held at MSAC from 29 September to 3 October. Emilio will compete against the best players from across Australia, as well as New Zealand, making this an incredible opportunity and achievement. We wish Emilio all the very best for the championships and look forward to cheering him on!

Senior Team – New Zealand Tour

Our Senior Water Polo team also had an exciting opportunity to travel to New Zealand for a 10-day tour. The tour provided the players with valuable experience competing against some great water polo clubs and experiencing a different level and style of competition. This was an excellent opportunity for the team to develop both in and out of the pool and helped prepare the players for the State League season, which commenced in July. With the club fielding two teams.

Exciting Tournaments Ahead

Planning is already well underway for some exciting upcoming tournaments, and we look forward to seeing our DVE teams competing and representing the club.

Ballarat – Junior Tournament  Under 14 & Under 16 , 3-4 October

Canberra Cup in Canberra  U13s & U17s , 7-8 November

These tournaments will provide our junior players with fantastic opportunities to compete against teams from across Victoria and interstate, build experience and, most importantly, enjoy playing the sport they love.

With the junior summer season commencing in mid-October, it is certainly going to be a busy and exciting period for DVE Water Polo!

FlippaBall Continues to Grow with the program continuing to be a great success, with growing numbers joining us each Sunday afternoon in Term 3 (not Father’s Day).

FlippaBall provides a fun and relaxed introduction to water polo and is a fantastic opportunity for new players to learn the basics of the sport, develop their swimming and ball skills, and make new friends in a team environment. We would love to see even more people getting involved!

If you’re a keen swimmer, love playing competitive sport and enjoy being part of a team, come along and give water polo a try. You don’t need to have played before just bring your enthusiasm and be ready to have some fun!

We look forward to seeing our players, families and supporters around the pool as we head into an exciting end to the winter season and the beginning of our junior summer season!

Train. Compete. Belong.

Go DV….EEE!
